The nature reservation Maštale
Maštale park was established by public notice of OkU Chrudim
on December 1, 1993 and OkU Svitavy June 26, 1992. It occupies
a territory in the river basin of the upper stream of Novohradka.
It borders the regions of Bohemian (Loučenské) and Českomoravské
highlands. It is situated on divide region of Chrudim and
Svitavy, on cadastral territories of villages Bor u Skutče,
Budislav, Jarošov, Leština, Nové Hrady, Paseky, Podměstí,
Proseč and Zderaz . The major part of reservation is situated
in south-east edge of region of Chrudim. This region has an
attractive character of a multi-tiered geographical outlook.
When you turn to the north; the difference between the highest
place in the south (Posekanec, 554m) and the lowest in the
north (riverbed of Novohradka u Polanky) is almost 200m. Total
surface area of the reservation is 1,083.6 hectares.
The saxicolous sand moulds and the so called Budislavské
skály, are the biggest attraction of the area. In principle
it is a system of saxicolous valleys, locally cut into the
sandstone and underlying crystalline rocks reaching 60m in
height (in places). The valley had been hollowed out by headspring
courses and branches of Novohradka. The slopes of the valley
are formed by sandstone walls which are in places broken up
into different forms of towers, pillars, juts, faults, rifts,
and blocks. Here you can see towns such as Toulovcovy and
Městské Maštaly, majestically constructed on rock.
